Bulgaria - a country taking just 2% of Europe's territory - has an impressive cultural and historical heritage with more than 30 000 historical monuments / 7 of which are under UNESCO protection /, 36 cultural reserves, more than 160 monasteries, more than 300 museums and galleries. For centuries, the roads passing through the territory of the country have been connecting Europe with Asia and Africa. All the peoples that have lived in these territories - Thracians, Slavs, etc. - have affected Bulgarian culture and customs.
